JAHN, FRANCES ANN, 92 of Winter Park, Florida, died Monday, October 2, 2017 at The Gardens of DePugh in Winter Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, George N. Jahn, and her son, Michael Joseph Jahn. Frances is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Jahn (Coral Gables) and Valerie Jahn-Grandin (Coral Gables) and son, George A. Jahn, his wife, Sue Taylor Jahn and step-daughter, Rachel Taylor (Delray Beach). She was a beloved Nana to four grandchildren, Melissa LeBlanc, Gena Jahn, Chrissy and Chloe Grandin, and four great-grandchildren, Christopher, Wesley, Taylor and Everley.
A native of Miami, Frances attended Miami Senior High School and the University of Miami where she was selected as the model initiate of the Chi Omega chapter in her freshman year. Her family emigrated from Sicily and became true Miami pioneers operating Miami’s first ice plant, Royal Palm Ice and Refrigeration Company, opened in 1921. She was an active member of Saint Margaret Mary Parish in Winter Park, FL and served her parish as a Eucharistic Minister (thus leading to her being called “the Church Lady” by her great-grandchildren).
Frances loved all things Italian. This love was evidenced by her wonderful Italian cooking including delizioso Christmas cookies. She loved music of all kinds and entertained her extended family with her piano playing. Among her friends and family, she was a renowned hostess. Her dinner parties often included mandolin music, yet another reflection of her Italian heritage.
The family will greet friends during the visitation on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Carey-Hand Cox Parker Funeral Home, 1350 W. Fairbanks Ave., Winter Park, FL. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N. Park Avenue, Winter Park, FL. Internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, 3260 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Cure Alzheimer’s Foundation, http://www.curealz.org.
My prayers are with the Jahn family may God bless you.
