Cass Timothy Pennington, 64, passed away July 21, 2017 at Florida Hospital Altamonte, in the presence of loving family members.
Cass was born in Terre Haute, IN and built his life in Central Florida, where he was known by friends, family and neighbors for his gentle strength, compassion, loyalty, and quick-wittedness. His faithfulness is exemplified by his long, loving marriage to Cindy, his devoted wife of 43 years, and his career in the transportation industry at Winn Dixie/C&S Wholesale for 40 years. Cass also served his country in the Army Reserves.
In addition to his family, Cass’ passions included car restoration, fishing, navigating the river rapids of North Carolina, golf, and time on the lake with his family, slalom water skiing.
Cass may have been short in stature, but to his family, he walked tall and he was a giant among men. He will be missed and always loved.
In addition to his wife, Cass’ legacy and memory will be carried on by daughter, Pepper Pennington Natonski (David); granddaughter, Mary Parks Natonski; future grandson due in early September; mother, Mary Pennington; sisters, Marsha Crosby (Ron), Claudia Moore (Keith), Tammy Garrett, Kelly Fetro; brother, Mark Pennington (Sharon); father and mother in-law, Wayman and Mary Allen; brother-in-law, Stephen Allen (Dawn); and, in true Pennington family fashion, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins whom he adored.
Cass is predeceased by his father, George William Pennington, and his son, Cass Timothy Pennington II.
A gathering of family and close friends to share memories will be held Thursday, July 27th from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Carey Hand Cox Parker Funeral Home – 1350 W. Fairbanks Ave. in Winter Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those inclined spend a moment reflecting near open water, where Cass always found peace, thrills, and joy.
