Jane Warnock Mcelyea, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 10th. Jane, "Mimi" to many, was born in Webster, Florida, where she met her husband, Dr. Jack H. Mcelyea at age 8. Upon Jack's graduation from Veterinary School at the University of Florida, they moved to Orlando in 1954, where they raised their 3 children on Little Lake Fairview. Jane attended Florida Southern College and was a member Delta Zeta sorority. She graduated from Rollins College with a B.A. in Psychology and was a published author. Jane dedicated much of her life to serving others through the United Methodist Women of College Park and the Junior League of Orlando. She is survived by children Pam Mcelyea Barnard, Dr. William P. Barnard, Tina Ragan Mcelyea, and Jeff R. Mcelyea; grandchildren Paul Barnard, Patti Salas Barnard, Brad Barnard, Katie Jane Mcelyea, Christie Mcelyea, and Allie Mcelyea; great grand children Jake Barnard, Luke Barnard, Betsy Barnard, Haley Barnard, and John Colton Mcelyea; nephew Hugh Mcelyea; niece Claire Mcelyea; brother in law Robert Mcelyea; and dear companion, Alton Nolle. She joins her husband of 62 years, Dr. Jack H. Mcelyea and son John H. Mcelyea in heaven. Jane leaves behind an unforgettable legacy of compassion, vitality, and hospitality. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise, Florida, or the Orlando Union Rescue Mission. Services will be held Friday, July 14th, at 1 PM at College Park United Methodist Church.
