- Midge was born in Montgomery , Alabama, the middle of 5 children. She is the daughter of David and Bertha Sherard; sister of Johnny Sherard, the late Milligan Sherard, Olive Shelkofsky, & Jean Hankins; mother of Barbara Trnka; grandmother of Joseph (Anita) Trnka & Daniel (Brittany Moore) Trnka; great grandmother of Brooke Trnka & Dane Trnka.
She met her late husband Clarence, a World War II soldier at Gunter Field in Montgomery. They married 3 years later just prior to his embarkation to Europe. Upon his return, they settled in Winter Park. Midge began her career with what was then Winter Park Telephone Company , starting as a switchboard operator among a staff of 45 employees. As the company grew, Midge continued her career growth, retiring after 35 years as Staff Accountant. During those years, Midge was active in the American Business Women's Association, Orlando Action Chapter and served as President and 1977-1978 Woman of the Year. She served as Secretary for numerous years with Association of Information Technology Professionals, Orlando chapter (then Data
Processing Management Association). She was active in the Galloway Telephone Pioneer Club serving as Treasurer, Vice President and President. Midge was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, holding the A STAR point position for 3 years. Midge made many lasting friendships.
Upon retirement, Midge followed her dream and pursued ballroom dancing. She competed in dance competitions around the country, most often bringing home First Place. She loved the excitement and glamour, as well as hard work. She found her joy in life through dance and always loved a good time and friends.
